The good and the bad moments

It’s the morning of the 6th day and we just camped for the first night. I think it’s safe to say we were not prepared for the cold we encountered in the night and it was not a restful sleep for me at all.

160km have been covered up this point and even though I have trained longer rides in the past in preperation for Ironman races... riding a 10kg carbon bike VS a 30+kg steel bike are two totally different experiences.
Day one was absoltuely brilliant and ended with Sabrina, Michael, Raphael And Kleo.

Day 2 we found ourselves riding into an absolute downpour on the way to Leoben from Frohnletin. We were drenched and frozen. Numb fingers and numb toes. Having said that once we arrived spirits were lifted once again thanks to Hannah and Conni.

Day 3 was an unplanned rest day as we were blessed by Hannah & Conni who let us spend another day in their home.
Day 4 .... what a bitch. The longest ride with a lot of gradual climbing constantly fighting intense headwinds. It was not an easy day and both Nadja and myself struggled physically and mentally. It was almost a 7 hour journey which seemed like it would never end.

But we made it and were greeted by Dorothea and Toni who welcomed us into their home and had prepared some warm food for us.
It truly changed our mood from darkness to light.

Day 5 we had perfect conditions. We were motivated but had no idea where we were going to sleep. We had a climb which proved to be exhausting. It was just 3km of distance but wow.

But we made it. And it was worth it. The scenery we got to witness was absolutely mind blowing which words cannot describe and photos just cannot do it justice, even though many photos were attempted.

All in all I’m happy to say this experience is proving to be great replica of how I feel life to be very often.
It is proving be very hard at times, but the harder the struggle the more appreciation I feel at the end of the day when I recap and count my blessings for the scenery I witnessed, the generosity we received from strangers, and I’m here doing this while most other people are working and studying.
A dreaming coming to life.
