Why am I doing this? What do I think I am going to gain out of this? Why am I even bothering? What's the point?

Questions I have subconsciously asked myself many times during my life. Questions that can be asked for almost anything one chooses to do in life. The fun began when these question stopped being subconscious and I started actually asking myself these questions; a task which proves to be relieving yet sometimes makes me want to smash my head against the wall. For those who don't know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Sam.

Hello.

Now with such a mind-blowing immersive introduction of myself, you may be asking yourself; ok we get it.... and now... what's the point to this?

I have struggled a lot with my mental health throughout much of my life and finally I feel no shame in being open about it. The ups and downs which I have experienced have led me to this point in my life where I am about to embark on a long term adventure of slowly cycling throughout the world.

I want to share this literal adventure and the mental adventure which brought me to this point, by means of this blog for whoever is interested in my progress, my reasons for doing such a trip, and to possibly encourage others to question "What's the point?". The question that once I started actually asking on a deeper level helped me understand myself much better and acquire some levels of inner peace.

I would just like to end this opening blog post with a big THANKS to my parents who have supported me throughout all my life in all my choices, and if it were not for them I would not be lucky enough to be starting such an adventure.

Finally you are soon on your way! cant believe it is actually happening.

Soak in the dramatic views, feel blessed that you have decided to do this and you can meet the rest of us brats of the world.

Have a great time, even in the soaked nights when you cant get warm and you have a huge rock in your back, exactly on a bruise that you just started to forget about. Laugh at the moments when you just feel desperate in, things will get easier and remember you have been training for this; mentally and physically since before I know. U deserve this time! Have fun!!!!

Lots of virtual hugs and ftira special (with butter and cheese and…

Illahwa Sam, what a touching introduction! We found it very moving, also because, apart from the great courage of your sincerity, you found it in your heart to acknowledge our love for you.

This for us is a very precious treasure because you are engraved in our hearts and nothing can change that. We will be following you all the way and supporting you with our love and sincere prayer to Almighty God, our loving Father that he may keep you ever in his love and watch over you through thick and thin. This was an unexpected and very beautiful present for Mother's Day. With our love, always. Mama and Papa x
